Full course description
Data Management Fundamentals : A Beginner's Guide to Data Success
This course provides an easy-to-understand introduction to the most important ideas in data management, including up-to-date examples and case studies to help you relate these ideas to what organisations are doing in this area. The concepts covered directly relate to how modern, data-focused businesses operate today.
Data Management Fundamentals gives a special emphasis to two vital areas of data management - data quality and data security. These areas are important throughout all of the stages that data goes through, from creation to deletion (known as the data lifecycle) and are ones which successful organisations pay close attention to).
Another notable area that we highlight is that of data ethics, the responsible use of data. Using data ethically is important to the long-term success of organisations as it builds trust and reputation, as well as having wider social implications. Like data quality and security, data ethics is important at all stages of the data lifecycle.
Whilst other areas such as data analytics, machine learning and AI are often given a higher profile than data management, we would argue strongly that good data management forms the very foundation of these areas and without a focus on it, organisations will struggle to succeed in a data-driven world.
